GOOGLE SPENDS OVER $100 MILLION TO DEFEND YOUTUBE

Google CFO Patrick Pichette says they “invested” $100 million defending YouTube against Viacom’s $1 billion lawsuit.

In 2007, Viacom sued Google for $1 billion in damages over 160,000 unauthorized clips uploaded to YouTube, acquired by the search company in 2006. Last month, the court ruled in favor of Google.

That victory did not come cheap, though. The tech giant had to spend $100 million in its defense of its video property. We wonder how many lawyers were working on the YouTube case with that kind of money.

In the end, it’s really a drop in the bucket for Google who’s worth over $30 Billion.
