Lil Wayne began serving his one-year jail sentence at New York City’s Rikers Island facility on March 8, but now it looks like he may be home for Thanksgiving.

MTV News reports that Lil Wayne is currently scheduled to see a November 4 release — just 8 months into his sentence — as long as he manages to avoid any violations for behavioral issues. During the past four months, Weezy has kept in touch with fans via his new blog. Last week his co-manager Cortez Bryant revealed that Lil Wayne would drop a new EP titled ’I’m Not a Human Being’ this September.

Wayne’s current jail sentence stems from a 2007 arrest in New York City after police discovered a gun and marijuana on his tour bus. The rapper plead guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon in October 2009, and in March he was sentenced to one year in jail, although he was only expected to serve eight months of his sentence
