So I decided to blog a little bit about a revamped eye makeup trend that is making quite the comeback: The Mod Eye. And the fact is, I’m not really sure how I feel about this 1960’s throwback look.
Popularized by fashion icons like Twiggy and Andy Warhol’s divine Edie Sedgwick, the mod eye makeup style included an enhanced crease, white shadows and dramatic lines. Recently, this look has popped up on the runways and lookbooks of famous designers.
So here’s a quick how-to on achieving this look for the bold and curious:
- Step 1: Sweep the entire lid with white shadow. I recommend starting with a primer.
- Step 2: Use a brown or black liner pencil to trace out an arch above each lid crease. You’re basically copying the shape of the eye. To soften the look, you can smudge the line a bit with a sponge or your finger.
- Step 3: Line the lower lids with a black pencil.
- Step 4: Add several layers of black mascara to the top and bottom lashes. To achieve the true look, add some dramatic lashes, including individual ones on the bottom lashes.
And you’re done! What do you think of this look? Will you try it? What would you wear this look to?
